Fire hydrants are not for public use and will be opened only by trained personnel of the Fire Department and/or Corinth Gas & Water Department.

Unlawful use of Fire Hydrants is equal to water meter tampering and the same laws apply. Mississippi code of 1972 sec. 97-25-3 makes it a criminal offense and violations of this code can lead to imprisonment and fines.

Contractors in need of water to fill their trucks have two options. They may purchase a Yearly Water Fill Permit for a yearly fee and a Hydrant Meter with backflow device will be set at the hydrant. The other option is to purchase a 1 Day, 10 Day or 1 Month Permit and a portable meter with backflow device will be delivered to the location by CG&W employees. A portable meter can only be used on a daily basis and will be picked up at 4:00 pm each day by CG&W personnel.

Contractors will be issued a laminated card with an expiration date to present to the Fire Department.

Guidelines and fees are provided on the Water Fill Permit.
