Fire hydrants are not for public use. They are opened only by trained personnel of the Fire Department and/or the Corinth Gas & Water Department.
Unlawful use of a fire hydrant is treated the same as water-meter tampering, and the same laws apply. Under Mississippi Code of 1972 § 97-25-3, it is a criminal offense — violations can lead to imprisonment and fines.
Need to fill your trucks? Contractors have two ways to get metered water — choose the one that fits the length of your job.
Pay a yearly fee and a hydrant meter with a backflow device is set at the hydrant for the year.
Choose a 1‑day, 10‑day, or 1‑month permit. A portable meter with backflow device is delivered to your site by CG&W, used on a daily basis, and picked up by 4:00 pm each day.
Keep it on hand
Every permit comes with a laminated card showing its expiration date — present it to the Fire Department on request.
Guidelines and fees are provided on the Water Fill Permit.
