This is a program of the Corinth Gas & Water Department administered by the Alcorn County Welfare Association to provide assistance to elderly and others in distress whose source of heat is subject to termination. Customer’s contributions to this fund (minimum of $1.00 per month) can be billed on customer’s gas and water bill, or donations may be made at the time of payment. To allow this charge to be billed, customers must complete and sign a Warm Neighbor Contribution Authorization Form.

Who will receive the funds?
The funds will go to households that need help but other wise may not receive it. It could be an elderly couple trying to get by on a small fixed income, or an ill or handicapped person with no visible means of support. It could be a single parent with young children or a family whose breadwinner is out of a job. Project Warm Neighbor is for families or individuals needing emergency help. It is temporary help and is not to be used as on ongoing source of supplementary income. The money collected is to be used to pay for emergency cases only.
Who manages Project Warm Neighbor?
Corinth Welfare Association (CWA) will manage the Warm Neighbor Project. CWA is a private, non-profit United Way agency governed by a local board of directors. CWA was organized in the early 1930’s to meet the needs of those less fortunate in Corinth and Alcorn County by giving assistance in utilities, food and rent. CW A works with other local service programs to coordinate services on behalf of the client. All clients served by CWA are screened based on income and need, and each case is documented.
